ABOUT

Sway+® is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW/LCSW) and Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP/CADCIII). Sway Positive’s work experience includes 20 years of working with children and families in public schools and with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). Sway+ is focused on understanding and respecting the strengths of the clients, including their culture, beliefs, values, communication and learning styles. Over the past 20 years, Sway+™ worked with adults, youth, children, and families throughout the lifespan by providing care coordination and case management. Experience has illuminated the correlation of how physical health is profoundly impacted by mental health and vice versa; that substance use is often a coping mechanism for unaddressed mental health and past trauma; and that meeting a person where they are while respecting their right to self-determination, is where the most change can transpire.

A word from our founder, Julia ~

I was born and raised in the former Soviet Union, Siberia. My family immigrated to United States in the early 90s while I was a young teen. I learned English from two amazing English Second Language (ESL) High School teachers who inspired me do the same. I worked in the ESL/ELL department at the local school district for 12 years as I continued my education and earned my Masters in Social Work Degree in 2015. I then spent my time providing support to families and individuals in my community. I hold a dual licensure as Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW/LCSW) in Oregon and Washington as well as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) and a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor III (CADC III) in OR/WA States as well.

My passion is to help people find meaning in their lives, empower toward self-determination, work-life balance and authenticity. I enjoy the Pacific Northwest, the beach and coffee.
